Grooming for Cats

Cats can be finicky about their cleanliness, but taking them to a cat salon can be incredibly stressful for them. They are particular creatures who are not usually fond of car rides, loud noises, and water.
Unlike their canine counterparts, they tend to keep themselves clean. Cats are constantly cleaning themselves throughout the day and though this is excellent for maintenance, the more they lick, the more hairballs are bound to occur. Grooming a cat requires time and patience, and extra time is something a lot of people don’t have.

Why Take Your Cat to a Groomer if They Clean Themselves?
No matter how much a cat maintains their own cleanliness, they can still run into issues that they need a bit of extra help with. These problems include:
- Fur matting, and tangles
- Fleas
- Dry or itchy skin
- Nail trimming (mainly for polydactyl cats with “hidden” nails)
Cats often are able to keep their own nails maintained which is why they scratch on things. Polydactyl cats, meaning cats with extra toes, often times have a claw that grows between their thumb and foot. This needs to be trimmed because it does not reach the surface when a cat scratches and can cause serious pain if left to grow.
Cats with long fur are more likely to create more hairballs, and develop matted fur. It’s recommended that they are brushed regularly to prevent these things from happening.
