Nobody Wants to Talk About It…..Canine Cancer #6
CANINE CANCER #6
The Prevention, Suppression, and Treatment of Cancer
Julie Anne Lee, DCH RCSHom
This article is being typed from her class video. When using the word, “I,” it is refereeing to Dr. Julie Anne Lee. If you have any questions about what she is prescribing, please seek out a holistic vet. I am not a vet and I am not prescribing any medications holistic or otherwise to you.
HOLISTIC SUPPORT
Depending on the type of cancer your dog has, there are several different homeopathic options that will help him. The remedy you choose needs to be based on the cancer you’re both dealing with.
In this article you’ll find the remedies that best fit each type and how to give them to your dog.
I have had probably 17 years of working with homeopathic remedies and holistic protocols and I can honestly tell you that it is the most amazing way to support your dog when they have chronic disease but when they have cancer for sure. I would like to say to you that if you want to pursue conventional treatment options, you can still use holistic supportive therapies. To lessen side effects, to aid in healing, support quality of life, continue to address the balance of the body. Don’t give up that that body can’t get back into balance. Having resentment and conflict by being on opposite sides of the fence is not going to help in any situation. So even if you have pursued conventional options, you can work together—so amazing with holistic options and protocols as well.
The protocols in my clinic that we use for homeopathic came from a book called A Homeopathic Approach to Cancer – Dr. A.U. Ramakrishnan & Catherine R. Coulter. I have used this book for years and years and years. It is the most amazing book on the planet when it comes to cancer and homeopathy but I basically modified it for animals and just with her clinical experience. So this is what we’re going to go over.
I will go through the actual types of cancer and remedies to use for those types of cancer. And then later on will also teach you how to give it.
OSTEOSARCOMA – If you dog is diagnosed with Osteosarcoma or any kind of bone tumor or periosteum related cancer. Not only used for cancer but it is amazing for pain. For bone marrow related Leukemia Hekla Lava 200C and Symphytum 200C. I usually start with Symphytum and then add Hekla Lava if Sypmhytum is not lasting or is not making the impact with the pain as it should be.
MAST CELL TUMOR – Histaminum 30C, Bellis Perennis 30C, Aconite 30C
STOMACH, PANCREAS, INTESTINAL CANCER – Hydrastis 200C
– Mesenteric glands, mucous membranes (including lungs and esophagus)
LUNG, LIVER, COLON and PROSTATE CANCER – Lycopodium 200C, Phosphorus 200C, Arsenicum 200C
RECTAL TUMORS/ANAL GLAND SARCOMAS – Nitric Acid 200C
– As well as tumors or the mouth, lips and urethra
– Especially if there is an ulcerations
BREAST AND SALIVARY GLANDS – Phytolacca 200C
– Parotid Gland
BRAIN TUMORS – Plumbum Iodatum 200C
PROSTATE – Sabal Serrulata 200C
BLADDER – Terebinthina 200C
LYMPHOMA – Echinacea 200C, Calc Carb 200C, Arsenicum 200C
SOFT TISSUE SARCOMA – Bellis Perennis 200C, Calendula 200C, Thuja 200C
Administering Remedies:
So, how do we give these remedies now? The first remedy should be given based on choosing the one that has the strongest affinity to the primary organ. So the organ that is most affected. Those are the remedies I have just given you.
So when I talked about Osteosarcoma, Hekla Lava and Sypmhytum those are the first remedies to be given. So individually, based on the type of cancer that it is I have given you, the strongest affinity to the primary organs of each one of those cancers.
The next is that we give an appropriate nosode. And what nosode means is that it is a homeopathic remedy still but it is made from the diseased tissue. This is given alternately with the organ specific remedy and when I say organ specific remedy that means the cancer, the type of cancer specific remedy.
I often start out with alternating weeks with 200C Nosodes (unless your dog is really symptomatic. In which case, you can do one on Tuesday and one on Friday. But if that’s the case, instead of using 200C’s you are actually going to give 30C nosode). Don’t worry; I will go through a really specific explanation of what this actually means.
These are the Nosodes:
Carcinosin 30C or 200C – Like I said, if the dog is very symptomatic and you are giving it every week instead of alternating weeks, you are going to give it 30C instead of 200C.
– This particular nosode is made from cancer of the breast. Personally, I start off here because it’s indicated where there is a history of cancer in family and because we are seeing so much cancer in dogs, it is used more often because of the nature of dogs getting cancer so often.
The other Nosode is Scirrhinum 30C or 200C – depending on how often you are going to give it. It is made from cancer of the liver. (It is preferred when the tumors are really stony hard). Meaning, if it’s got a tumor and it’s really, really hard sometimes you can start with Scirrhinum. But I would personally start all the time with Carcinosin, and then once you see how your dog is doing, then if the tumor is really, really hard or if it’s a bone tumor which is very hard, you can then alternate the Carcinosin with the Scirrhinum but I would prefer to always start with Carcinosin.
So how do you administer this? 1 dose equals 4 pellets. 4 doses in 24 hours means you start at bedtime, then you do it in the morning; you do it afternoon, bedtime again and then stop. So if you were doing it 10:00 at bedtime, you would stop again at 10:00 the next day bedtime so it’s given in a 24-hour period.
Going up the scale to increase potency, we’re going to start at 200C, then stronger is 1M, and stronger yet is 10M. So you can increase the strength of the remedy as needed for pain or if the tumor is growing faster than you want it to grow then sometimes we need to go to a stronger dose.
So here’s an example, Osteosarcoma, which is bone cancer. You would give Tuesday Symphytum 200C. You would give 4 doses within 24 hours. Then Friday, you would give Carcinosin 30C. You would give 4 doses within 24 hours. The reason that we did it this way is because we’re giving, as you can see we are not alternating Symphytum one week, Carcinosin the next week, we are actually giving Symphytum and Carcinosin within the same week. So we’re going to alternate the days. We are going to go Tuesdays Symphytum, Friday Carcinosin. You are going to repeat that exactly the same way every single week.
This can be a really painful pathology, so you can use Arnica 1M even twice a day for pain relief. If you are not achieving results, which means less pain, less inflammation, you can go to Symphytum 1M and stay with Carcinosin 200C. You can still do them Tuesdays and Fridays if you are not achieving what want to achieve—which is less pain, things slowing down, not as reactive, not as painful. If you are not seeing that then we are going to go to a higher potency which is Symphytum 1M, Carcinosin 200C. You can even go to Arnica 10M. You can even go up to Arnica 50M for pain.
If things slow down—then again when I say slow down, meaning let’s say things are doing really well, and then all of a sudden they stall, they go into a stalemate then you can alternate your Carcinosin with your Scirrhinum to try to speed up the healing process, or speed up the decrease of pain and inflammation.
Hemangiosarcoma is something that is very, very common. It’s a tumor of the spleen. So with this, we are going to take those remedies that you have for Hemangiosarcoma and we are making them up as a combination. So Tuesday, you are going to make up a combination of Phosphorus 30C, Ceanothus 30C, Bellis Perennis 30C, Arnica 200C, China 200C and you are going to give 4 doses of all that combined in 24 hours. On Fridays, you’re going to give Carcinosin 30C and you are going to give 4 doses in 24 hours.
This is an important thing to remember, because a lot of people when their dogs are diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma, they’re terrified to have something called the bleed. And that means when the tumor has pulled away from the spleen and your dog bleeds into his body—hemorrhages into its body. It can be a reason for the dog to die. But in my experience, which has been a lot with Hemangiosarcoma, I have found that more times than not, if you have this emergency remedy made up and if you have it with you all the time and you give it if your dog collapses. So what a bleed would look like is that your dog would collapse. Its gums would be very pale. You would probably start noticing it as your dog would be slowing down, but sometimes it can be sudden, especially if you are out on a walk or they are running around.
You would have a remedy made up all ready of Arnica 1M, Aconite 1M, China 1M, Phosphorus 1M. Make it in a dropper bottle with 4 pellets of each – 1/8th of a bottle with Vodka and the rest with spring water. You give a dropper full of this combination every 15 minutes for 4 doses. Then you go to a dropper full every half an hour for 4 times. Then you go to a dropper full every two hours for 4 times. Then a dropper full twice a day for 2 days.
And it has been my experience, there are no guarantees with any medicine, and none of us have a crystal ball, it has been my experience that dogs will reabsorb the blood that when they have a bleed if you are able to get this to him.
Managing Pain, Nausea and Weakness: Arnica 1M or Arnica 10M for any kind of pain and you can basically give it as needed. You know when your dog is in pain and when he is not in pain. Give the remedy, watch and wait. If it increases, then you can give it again. You can literally give it as often as needed. And if you seem like you are giving Arnica 1M too often, like you are having to give it a lot, then you can order 10M or you can order 50M and you can give it to them as needed.
If there is restlessness with the pain, you simply add Aconite 1M with the Arnica and give it as needed.
If the bone pain is really intense, you can add a remedy called Phosphoric Acid 1M to the Arnica.
If there is weakness you can add Phosphorus 200C and China Rubra 200C as needed.
If there is nausea from drugs: Nux Vomica 200C as needed.
There is nausea not from drugs just from the cancer: Phosphorus 200C as needed.
Every dog on any of these protocols that we gave at our clinic also got a mushroom called Coriolus Versicolor (turkey tail). They all got digestive enzymes; they got liver support, gut support with larch in it. Makes sure there is larch in it because it helps for metastasis of tumors. Antivirals, Essiac and phytoplankton.
You can also introduce an ketogenic diet if you feel it is what you want to do. But I have to tell you guys that it is so important that your dog continues to eat. I can’t tell you the amount of cancer dogs that people were force feeding them and they just didn’t want to eat. I have had so many people, as strange as it sounds, say to me, “They just want to eat porridge.” Or “They just want to eat toast.” So, if that is the case, they have to eat. So, try to find sprouted porridge. Try to find sprouted toast or organic sprouted toast. If your dog wants something like that, or scrambled eggs, you basically just need to make sure that they are eating. Then once they start to feel better, then you can start to cook their food and give it. Then once they begin to feel even better then you can go back to raw and Ketogenic or whatever you want to do. It is important that they continue to eat.
CBD oil, It’s a great one. Try very hard to make sure you get a certificate of analysis on your CBD oil that it has zero THC. There is nothing worse than trying to give CBD oil with THC in it and then your dog gets nauseous from it, or your dog gets stoned from it and gets scared. There are amazing CBD oils out there. Source is one of them that has zero THC in it.
Don’t forget the oxytocin for pain stress. It’s being researched as a cancer treatment. We are not hearing a lot about it because people don’t make money on Oxytocin. But if they are actually using it for cancer fighting properties in research in Australia and research in the UK, it’s worth a try. The worse thing that happens is that you just connect with your dog. So don’t forget the oxytocin and the gaze and the loop that you do just by looking at your dog and being grounded and present.
Start slowly with all of this stuff. You can always add other things, but do it really slowly—at least a week in between. There are so many times I see cancer dogs and they come in with a bag full of supplements and they are wondering why their dog doesn’t want to eat. It’s often because there just bombarding their system. Just because it’s natural, doesn’t mean that it’s not going to react in a negative way. So, it is super important to do things really slowly. Don’t panic and start one thing at a time when it comes to (not when it comes to the homeopathic remedies) but when it comes to like the turkey tail and the digestive enzymes. Do one thing at a time and make sure that there is at least a week or three days in between that you are knowing that your dog can handle it.
Just don’t panic and try to be present. You guys now have some of the most effective remedies to address your dog’s cancer. In the next class, we will talk about how to stay positive through this journey.
Beastie Boutique does carry the Phytoplankton, Broad Spectrum CPD oils that do not contain the THC and a 14 Mushroom Blend that offers immune support.
