MARSHMALLOW LEAF AND ROOT are used for pain and swelling (inflammation) of the mucous membranes that line the respiratory tract. They are also used for dry cough, inflammation of the lining of the stomach, diarrhea, stomach ulcers, constipation, urinary tract inflammation, and stones in the urinary tract.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS:
Pregnancy and nursing: Not enough is known about the use of marshmallow during pregnancy and nursing. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.
Diabetes: There is a concern that marshmallow might interfere with blood sugar control. If your pet has have diabetes, check with your veterinarian.

Surgery: Marshmallow might affect blood sugar levels. There is a concern that it could interfere with blood sugar control during and after surgical procedures. Stop taking marshmallow at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery.
Marshmallow Root contains a type of soft fiber called mucilage. Mucilage can decrease how much medicine the body absorbs. Taking slippery elm at the same time you take medications by mouth can decrease the effectiveness of your medication. To prevent this interaction give slippery elm at least one hour after medications given by mouth.

SLIPPERY ELM is for coughs, sore throat, colic, diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bladder and urinary tract infections, and for expelling tapeworms. It is also used for protecting against stomach and duodenal ulcers, for colitis, diverticulitis, GI inflammation, and too much stomach acid. Slippery elm is also taken by mouth to cause an abortion.

Licorice is used for various digestive system complaints including stomach ulcers, heartburn, colic, and ongoing inflammation of the lining of the stomach (chronic gastritis).
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS:

It is possibly unsafe when used in large amounts for more than 4 weeks. Consuming licorice daily for several weeks or longer can cause severe side effects including high blood pressure, low potassium levels, weakness, paralysis, and occasionally brain damage in otherwise healthy people.
